The Harrisville Central School District is now accepting nominating petitions for a vacant seat on the Board of Education.
The seat became available following the loss of former Board President Jan Mosher in January. The Board of Education has elected to maintain the vacancy until the annual election on May 20. In February, Vice President Cory Bearor assumed the role of President, and the board appointed member Heidi McIntosh as Vice President.
Qualified district residents may obtain nominating petitions at the Harrisville Central School District Main Office, located at 14371 Pirate Lane, during regular business hours, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Completed petitions, bearing the signatures of at least 25 qualified district voters, must be filed with the District Clerk no later than 5 p.m. on April 21.
To be eligible, candidates must be: qualified voters of the district; at least 18 years of age; able to read and write; a resident of the district for at least one year prior to the election; and the sole member of their household serving on the board.
The election will be held in conjunction with the annual school budget vote on May 20.
