Dear Harrisville Families and Community Members:
A new exciting school year is upon us here at Harrisville Central School District!
Our first day back is Thursday, Sept. 7, for all students, grades pre-K-12. In addition, you are invited to attend our annual Open House on Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 5-7 p.m. The event provides an opportunity for students and families to visit and become acclimated before school begins.
It has been a very busy summer for us. Our custodial, transportation, office, guidance, instructional and nursing staff have been hard at work, eagerly preparing for the upcoming school year! Without their tremendous efforts, we wouldn’t be able to open the school on time! I would like to personally thank each and every staff member for their dedication to our students.
As families get ready for the new school year, they may be wondering about what school supplies student(s) may need. Over the past few years, our district was able to purchase supplies for all its students because of one-time federal funding. Now that this one-time funding has been utilized to its fullest extent, families will need to purchase school supplies this school year, based on the lists you will find on pages 4 and 5 of this newsletter.
If you have any questions or your family is unable to purchase supplies, please contact the Elementary School Office or High School Office at (315) 543-2707 for assistance.
Our district remains committed to keeping families informed. Parents and guardians — if you haven’t already signed up for ParentSquare, I encourage you to do so. This is the school-to-home communication system the district began using last year. It is designed to keep families informed and strengthen their connections with HCS. You can learn more on School-to-Home Communication at Harrisville on our website.
Speaking of the Harrisville website, you may have noticed a major change on this website. Our administrative team has been working to redesign our district website to make it more user-friendly for students, staff, families and community members.
If you have any questions in the days leading up to the first day of school, do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher, principal or me directly. My email address is rfinster@hcsk12.org and my office phone number is (315) 543-2707. We are here to answer any questions you may have.
Thank you to our families and community members for their continued support of Harrisville Central School District. We are lucky to have such a strong community, along with supportive parents and talented staff. Together, anything is possible. Let’s make this school year a memorable one, filled with learning, growth and endless possibilities!
Cordially,
Robert N. Finster
Superintendent of Schools
